Footpatrol's collaboration with Nike stands out as one of the most influential retailer partnerships of the era. Founded in 2002, Footpatrol quickly earned a reputation as the UK's answer to New York's elite sneaker boutiques, originally opening in London's Soho district and building a prestige that only a handful of European stores could match.

The partnership reached its peak in 2005, when Footpatrol reimagined both the Nike Air Stab-returning after a long hiatus—and the Air Max 90. While the Air Stab arrived as planned, the Air Max 90 was pushed from its original late-2005 window to January 2006, only adding to its anticipation.

For the design, Footpatrol leaned into the fashion trends of the time, introducing subtle polka-dot detailing inspired by labels like Head Porter and Idiom. Though some critics initially dismissed the look as "too simple" for a collaboration, the concept has since become a defining part of its legacy. The Baroque Brown colorway was first intended as a Friends & Family Hyperstrike, but Nike ultimately elevated it to a Tier O release, making it available at top-tier retailers like Footpatrol, colette, oquim, and Nort, with a Black and White version following shortly after.

The launch itself was just as memorable.

Footpatrol hosted an exclusive in-store event where guests who received a limited-edition tea mug were treated to a custom Air Max 90 cake — a fully edible pastry crafted to match the Baroque Brown colorway, bringing the collaboration to life in a way only Footpatrol Could.
